Re: Common Mode Chokes
Well, without regard to what the build-out resistors do in the time domain, they still reduce current demands and DIM-like distortion. So I guess the inductors do not completely taketh away. I need to measure the improvement I'm seeing in reduced RF at the line receiver input pins. These chokes do w...

Re: Common Mode Chokes
What carefully-chosen build-out resistors give, inductors taketh away... I spent a lot of time grappling with maximally flat transient response by carefully choosing the optimum value of line driver build-out: http://www.proaudiodesignforum.com/forum/php/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=464&start=135 Th...

Re: Merry Christmas
It took me decades to train everybody to not expect christmas gifts from me... Lucky you. Well, as our extended family grew it just got to be too much. It took me a decade of pleading the extended family to draw names. I was very unpopular. Then it became my Mom's idea to draw names and it suddenly...

Re: 9 Volt Battery End of Life Voltage
Thanks Bill. So about 7V on that system. I did discharge testing on Alkaline AA's for two different products using the ISD Chipcorders years ago and I found that on them - with those two relatively low current products - that the EOL was around 1.25 volts per cell. One of them was an intermittent du...

9 Volt Battery End of Life Voltage
Q: What is the typical end-of-life voltage for a 9V battery?
A: My smoke detector thinks it's ~7.3 volts open-circuit.
At what voltage do wireless mics and stomp boxes typically begin to fail?

Re: Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas everyone.
It's obviously been awhile since I stumbled into the Peabody Lounge.
Everyone got their shopping done? I'm off for groceries but the rest is done.

Re: Common Mode Chokes
John sent me the Jensen Comtran information he had collected over the years and has also pointed out elsewhere the role of the input transformer as a bandpass/band limiting filter. The Jensen archive is worthy of it's own thread. In high RF environments you just can't beat a good transformer... I do...

Re: Common Mode Chokes
I wouldn't be so sure about being in the minority.I know I'm in a minority here but I like band limited signals.
I'll try and get us some 'scope photos.
They're not pretty...
